The top of the chine and the location of each plank lap must also be indicated by projecting them horizontally onto the frame. There is no need to fuss with a precise fit at the laps; the frames are intentionally notched to clear the laps by about \14 inch so rainwater can't be trapped there. The inboard edge of the frame is marked for cutting with a pattern positioned as shown on the plans.
